Angelina Jolie to Sell Historic Los Angeles Mansion, Eyes Move Abroad After Custody Restrictions End
Hollywood icon Angelina Jolie is preparing to say goodbye to her historic Los Angeles estate as she plans a permanent move overseas once her youngest children turn 18 next year.
The Maria star, 50, will put the mansion on the market after making minor upgrades, multiple sources confirm. Page Six first reported the news. Jolie, who purchased the 1913-built property in 2017 for $24.5 million, has long admitted she never intended to live in Los Angeles full-time.

“She didn’t have a choice because of the custody arrangement with Brad [Pitt],” a source told PEOPLE. The former couple — who finalized their divorce settlement in December 2024 after an eight-year legal battle — share six children: Maddox, 24, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and 17-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

According to insiders, Jolie intends to leave the U.S. as soon as Knox and Vivienne become adults next year. “She’s eyeing several locations abroad and will be very happy to leave Los Angeles,” the source said.
The estate — a sprawling 11,000-square-foot masterpiece with six bedrooms and ten bathrooms — is steeped in Hollywood history. Legendary director Cecil B. DeMille purchased the home in 1916, later combining it with a neighboring property once owned by Charlie Chaplin.
In a 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jolie admitted she has stayed in Los Angeles only because of her divorce. “When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety,” she said, adding that the “humanity” she has experienced abroad is something she doesn’t find in L.A.

Once she departs, Jolie says she will spend much of her time in Cambodia, the birthplace of her oldest son Maddox, and travel to visit her family members around the world. She has called Cambodia “the one place in my heart” she truly considers home.
Jolie’s looming departure marks the end of a chapter defined by custody constraints and Hollywood obligations — and the beginning of a life she has envisioned for years, far from Los Angeles.
