White House Officials Want President Trump to Wear Bullet Proof Vest

Posted on April 27, 2026

After a reported attempted shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night, officials within the White House are said to be evaluating additional security measures for Donald Trump—including the possible use of a bulletproof vest during public appearances.

No senior officials, including Trump, were harmed in the incident. The suspect was apprehended following a confrontation with the United States Secret Service outside the ballroom of the Washington Hilton, where the event had just begun.

According to reports, discussions about enhanced protection intensified after the incident. Peter Doocy stated that internal deliberations are underway regarding whether the president may need to wear a bulletproof vest at future public events. However, there has been no official confirmation from the White House so far.

The alleged gunman, identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen, was taken into custody after reportedly firing at a Secret Service agent. The agent, who was wearing protective gear, sustained injuries but has since been discharged from the hospital.

Authorities also claim that a manifesto linked to the suspect contained strong accusations against Trump. The situation has renewed concerns about presidential security, particularly given past incidents.

This is not the first time Trump has faced such threats. During a campaign rally in Pennsylvania prior to his re-election bid, he was injured when a bullet grazed his ear. Two attendees were wounded in that incident, and the attacker—identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks—was shot dead at the scene.
